4. Improve your oral hygiene.

An effective oral hygiene routine includes these steps, performed at least twice daily: Brush teeth thoroughly: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste to clean all tooth surfaces for two minutes.
Clean the tongue: Use a scraper or toothbrush to remove bacteria, fungi, and dead cells from the tongue’s surface. Start at the back and scrape forward.
Floss daily: Flossing removes trapped food particles and plaque between teeth that brushing can’t reach.
Use oral irrigation (optional): A water flosser can help dislodge hard-to-reach debris.
Rinse with mouthwash: An antiseptic mouthwash kills remaining bacteria and freshens breath.
If you have a sensitive gag reflex, go slowly when cleaning the back of the tongue. Over time, the reflex may diminish. Sticking to this routine supports a cleaner mouth and helps prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath. Consistency is the key to optimal oral health.
