The Panzer 68 was the Swiss Army's main battle tank, produced by Eidgenössische Konstruktionswerkstätte. It was developed in the 1960s and remained in service until the late 1990s. A 1979 article in the Swiss magazine Weltwoche highlighted several flaws in the Panzer 68.

The article led to the resignation of the Swiss Minister of Defense. One major issue was the heating system, which could accidentally fire the main cannon when activated. These problems were later resolved through upgrades, but the Panzer 68 was eventually replaced as the Swiss Army's primary battle tank.
