The Saluki is one of the oldest dog breeds, descended from sighthounds, which hunt primarily by sight rather than scent. Sighthounds were first used for hunting in the Fertile Crescent during the BC era, often accompanying nomadic tribes.

Known for their hunting abilities, modern Salukis can reach speeds of up to 43 mph. They are quiet, reserved, and independent, with a lifespan of up to 14 years. Although not as robust as other hunting breeds, Salukis still enjoy running and playing. Stocking up on toys from pet stores or big-box retailers like Walmart is a good idea to keep them entertained.
