Not always a problem

When people see a young animal alone, they often think it is in distress or abandoned. However, this is not always true. In nature, many newborns, like baby rabbits, spend most of their day without their mother. For example, rabbits may be alone for up to 23 hours a day. This behavior, though surprising to humans, is natural and part of their survival strategy.
Mothers often leave their young alone to avoid attracting predators. They return quietly to feed them at specific times, usually at dawn or dusk. Intervening unnecessarily can upset this delicate balance and endanger the animal’s survival.
