A delicate scenario
The firefighters knew the situation was especially fragile. If the mothers were still nearby, they might return to care for their babies once the danger had passed. But another worry was that if the rescuers handled the babies directly, the mothers might be disturbed by the human scent and abandon them.
This dilemma forced the team to find a balance between rescuing the animals and not disturbing their bond with their mothers. Every action had to be carefully considered to avoid making things worse.
