17. Puli

The Puli is famous for its thick, natural dreadlocks. These rare dogs are affectionate and agile, but their coats need careful grooming. Originally used by Hungarian shepherds, Pulis are small but sturdy, standing 16 to 17 inches tall and weighing 25 to 35 pounds. Their corded coat forms ropes that protect them from harsh weather and predators. Pulis are energetic and excel at herding, often trying to herd their families. They are lively, intelligent, and form close bonds with their owners. Early socialization and ongoing training are key for these independent dogs.
