14. Bergamasco Sheepdog

The Bergamasco Sheepdog is famous for its long, matted coat made of three types of hair. Their history dates back to the Phoenicians, and they nearly vanished during World War II. Their unique coat provides warmth and protection in the Italian Alps. The mats form naturally and require little grooming once set. Bergamascos are intelligent, patient, and loyal. They usually stand 22 to 24 inches tall and weigh 57 to 84 pounds. Their herding instincts and problem-solving skills make them excellent companions for those who appreciate their rare looks and working abilities.
