8. Who's a good boy?

Charlie, a clever golden retriever with bright eyes, became a master at winning treats. In the neighborhood, he was famous for his charm and wit. With a sign reading “Not hungry or homeless, just want a treat,” Charlie set out each day to collect delicious rewards. He approached people with his best puppy eyes and a friendly tail wag. Many could not resist his appeal, believing he was in need. In reality, Charlie was simply a treat lover with a smart plan. As he gathered treats, his sign became worn and dirty—a sign of his success. But Charlie was resourceful, using drool and dirt to keep his message readable. His daily adventures brought him snacks and new fans. His owner, both amused and a little embarrassed, admired Charlie’s creativity.
